First decision, do you or do you not want to use FOSE? Passing up FOSE means lots of mods will no longer work. Well FOSE doesn't support v.1.7.0.4 and recommends downgrading to v.1.7.0.3, and this is the crossroads. It is a highly required mod if you want do some really cool things in the game that don't count toward the mod limit or bog down the game. We are at a crossroads with the Fallout 3 Script Extender (FOSE). Which version you use will depend on which mods you want to use and I am sorry to say that you can't really have it both ways, unless FOSE updates to support the latest Fallout 3 version. It's not even that difficult to mod (you just can't use FOSE). The latest version is easiest to play, just install it, and play (for most of us). The latest Fallout 3 version is 1.7.0.4, but a slightly rolled back version (to 1.7.0.3) is still widely used. For modding Fallout 3, you're really going to have to make a decision between two game versions.
